Food Snitch collects minimal data to provide its core functionality:
Camera: Used solely to scan barcodes on food products. Images are processed locally on your device and are not stored or transmitted.
Location (optional): When you use the "Local Finds" feature, your approximate location is used to show nearby grocery stores, farmers markets, and health food shops. Your location is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties.
Scan History: Your scanned products and favorites are stored locally on your device only. This data is not uploaded to any server.
Preferences: Settings like dark mode and dietary preferences are stored locally on your device.
We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to anyone. We do not track you across apps or websites. We do not create advertising profiles. We do not store personal data on external servers.
Open Food Facts: We query the Open Food Facts database to retrieve product and ingredient information. Only the barcode number is sent — no personal data.
Google Places API: Used to find nearby stores when you use Local Finds. Only your approximate coordinates are sent to display results. Google's privacy policy applies to their service.
All data is stored locally on your device. To delete all data, clear the app's storage in your device settings or simply delete the app.
Food Snitch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
